There Is No Competition

This morning I feel God is speaking about “competition”. Let me say it this way. In God, there is no competition. He is in us being who He created us to be, and letting others shine in their identity as well.

There is so much competition in our world. And where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there (James 3:16). But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy (v. 17).

As all this was bubbling up, it hit me, wow Lord, you’re not in competition with anyone. I mean, it’s not like He’s in competition with the devil. There IS no competition! But the devil is always competing, and trying to pit people against one other because that’s what he did when he tried to outshine God in Heaven! And we know what happened with that. Out you go! God will not be mocked.

I just want to gel with that as we begin this week. If you feel the slightest tinge even of competition with anyone, give it to the Lord and ask Him for Mercy. I think there’s a lot He’s going to unpack with this one, but let’s start here.
