This morning I wasn’t hard pressed to post today since, when you shift gears, you have to go into neutral and a little rest is good. Besides, I had to run some errands, so decided to break my normal routine and grab breakfast on the road. You know, do something different. I swung into Subway®, picked up a breakfast sandwich, and was on my way.
When I got home, I noticed the Subway® logo on a napkin, and the Lord started speaking to me. I always love it when we have our own plans, and He interferes with them!
METANOEO. One of my favorite words of all time came to mind. Metanoeo is the Greek word for the word “repent”, and it literally means “to see things differently”. The idea of repentance is literally to do a 180-degree turn from the direction we’re going. And the beauty of Metanoeo is that it’s impossible to make a change in direction without first choosing to *see* things differently.
Imagine this. You’re walking in one direction, physically. Then you make a U-turn, but you still keep your head cocked backwards toward the old way. Eventually, your body will turn back in that direction because we can’t move in one direction and look another way at the same time.
So let’s now translate this to what we BELIEVE. What we believe is our perspective, it’s what we *see*. What if we’re believing lies about ourselves, or others … or GOD? How is that going to determine the path we take? How about if we choose to *see* things differently – see God differently, see ourselves differently, and see others?
I want to challenge you to let God take the walls of perception down, to “clean your windows” so to speak. Our experiences can create filters on our mind that distort what’s really happening. Take on God’s perspective. That’s what we’re stepping into. Because with His way of seeing things, nothing’s impossible, and everything changes!
