How Do You Stop a Rhino?

So here’s a little Friday/Weekend humor to leave you all with. It actually started with a not so funny case where I was seriously distraught about a client I had. This was many years ago, and I had been completely pinned down in fear by someone of a controlling nature. This wasn’t new to me. I had found myself in similar situations many a time, and had yet to experience the freedom from it all. When you’ve been on familiar ground for a long time, it’s a process to get free, but this was definitely part of my liberty.

So here I was, knowing I had to confront a client that had been overbearing, to discuss an issue. I was shaking in my shoes. Then ever so clearly, I heard the Lord say, “How do you stop a rhino from charging?”

“Wait. Wait! I know this one!”
(pause … as I thought to myself)

“You take its credit card away!!”

“That’s right,” He said. “You take its credit away. Stop giving so much credit to your client, and give some credit to yourself.”

I was laughing so hard at this point that the joy, in itself, was releasing me from fear, but that message was powerful. And it stuck.

Of course we are to esteem others higher than ourselves when it’s of a godly nature, but when a spirit of intimidation is at play, that is not something for us to come under. We are children of the Most High, and there is a value in us unlike any other. When fear creeps in, it distorts our identity and keeps us from the reality of God. I just want to remind you of how valuable you truly are. You are unique, and special, and this world needs you … more probably than you want to give yourself credit for. : )

So have a wonderful weekend, remember that … and trust God with the rhinos!
