Hi everyone, good morning and Happy Monday! Last week we talked of the importance of believing and how God is changing our mindsets if we let Him. I rounded it out at the end with the second part, walking it out.
Believing, of course is only step one. But then we need to put action to our beliefs.
I’ve been in James 2, where God speaks of applying works to our faith. Verse 2:19 got me, where it says “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe – and tremble!”
In another translation I have, the verse ends with “But even the demons know this and tremble with fear before him, yet they’re unchanged – they’re still demons!“
Just because we believe something, doesn’t change us. We need to put action to our belief. And further more, there’s relationship.
Verse 2:23 says “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God.”
Notice that because Abraham followed through with his faith, and applied it, God saw him as righteous. But not only that, He also saw Abraham as His friend.
In John 15:15, Jesus turns to His disciples and says, “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” This is because He knows His friends are reliable. They’ll carry it out. He knows His friends won’t just take His direction, but they’ll do it.
Will you choose be a friend of God today?
