One of the turning points that led me to start this group had its answer in a well known bible story. Well, mostly well known. There was a twist to it that often gets overlooked.

We all know David and Goliath. David had experienced God’s amazing faithfulness in killing a bear and a lion prior to meeting Goliath, so when he stood before the giant, he had a solid understanding of who God is, and who he is in Him. We know the story, and that incredible giant came tumbling down.

What we don’t see, though, is the next step. When it came time to receive his reward, David wasn’t as confident. He had seen himself as a shepherd boy, and when Saul offered his daughter in marriage, David quivered. “Who am I, and what is my family that I would be the king’s son-in-law?” (1 Samuel 18:18)

God was promoting him to a new level, a new season, but he was still in yesterday’s identity. I know there are a lot of issues related to why Saul treated David so badly, but I believe his lack of reception to a new identity hindered him. Saul saw a weakness and took full advantage.

We are standing on the edge of a new era. You could actually say we’ve already stepped into it. And the identity we walk in is going to mean EVERYTHING. It is not possible to move in this new place with yesterday’s mindsets and yesterday’s patterns. We have to embrace a new level of who God says we are. He is about to do something AMAZING, and He needs us agreeing with Him to propel what He has into full effect. Holding onto yesterday’s mindsets will only keep us from the new that He has in store.

It’s an amazing place to be! He always moves His people from glory to glory, and this world ain’t seen nothin’ yet!
